Our Comenius Project 2008 - 2010.
We are currently involved in a Comenius Project - Studying Science subjects through Environmental Issues'.
We are linked with schools in Italy, Cyprus and Sweden.
In November Miss Thomas and Mrs Morris visited
Parma in Italy to set up the project.
The project will be linked to sustainability and
recycling issues. Here is our project logo.
September visit to Sweden
On 29th September 2009, eight members of staff and two governors travelled to Sweden to spend the week with our Swedish hosts from Dotorpsskolan school in Falkoping, Sweden. Our partner schools from Cyprus and Italy were also there.
We continued our discussion on Studying Science subjects through Environmental Issues and watched powerpoint presentations from each country to see how each school is dealing with environmental issues in their country.
We spent three days looking at the Swedish school system, visited various classes and looked at their curriculum we also learnt about the history of Falbygden. It was great to meet up with our partners in this project and to share each others knowledge and experiences from different cultural backgrounds.
During our time in Falkoping, Sweden we met the pupils & staff of Dotorpsskolan,
had a tour around local area and visited their pre-school, secondary school and college.
We also had a bus tour around Falbygden and listened to our tour guide Anna-Karin
who told us all about the history of the Municipality of Falkoping.
We visited the science centre - Dalenium with a class from Dotorpsskolan, it was very interesting and fun.
We had a great evening of entertainment from a Swedish Dance Group and superb swedish food.
The visit to Falbygdens Ost ( cheese factory ) was very tasty and informative.

May visit to Wales
On May 13th 2009 our partner schools visited Glyncollen to discuss this project, they looked at the work we are currently undertaking and they experienced first hand our Welsh culture. Everybody at school were really excited leading upto and throughout their visit, we enjoyed meeting our visitors and showing them around our school, community and of course the Gower. Four children from Sweden also came along on the visit and they joined in lessons with our Year 5 and 6 classes.
Our partners from Sweden, Cyprus and Italy thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Wales.
They spent some time at Glyncollen looking at the learning environment and
they also visited Morriston Comprehensive School and the forest.
The focus for the linked visit is sustainability, which fits well with some of the
learning the children have been focusing on in school.
A ‘Twmpath Dawns’ was held with ‘Dawnswyr Tawerin’
entertaining the guests with traditional Welsh dances.
A buffet with a Welsh theme was prepared for the guests which they thoroughly enjoyed,
even the laverbread and cockles.
They also had the opportunity to have a tour of the Gower,
although our weather wasn't at it's best.
