Welcome to Our Year 1 Class Page
We have been very busy finding out what things are made of...
We enjoyed reading the story of the '3 Little Pigs'- and found out about the three different houses.
We made our own house of sticks in the forest,
it was quite strong...thankfully there was no wolf!
We re-told the story using words and pictures
and enjoyed using props too!
We have also enjoyed the story of Hansel and Gretel.
We sequenced the story into 3 parts, beginning, middle and end,
we also made lovely Gingerbread Houses-Yum!!
We have enjoyed the art with Mr.Lewis this term.
We collected leaves during oneof our forest trips and completed some work in the style of Matisse!
We got in a bit of mess too!
We have worked so hard with our new handwriting style.
We have had lots of fun using shaving foam, sand, glitter and gloop to pratice our letters!
All our hard work has paid off... and Miss Evans is very proud of us!
We have developed our role play area as a Construction Site Office
and enjoyed designing a vehicles for us to use.
Our maths this term has involved looking at .....
- number bonds,
- ordinal numbers,
- doubles,
- shape,
- promlem solving.
We Investigated lots of these topics through our theme.
We have worked in groups in the forest to complete lots of Science work.
We went on a sensory material hunt...
We compared natural and man-made materials
and have sorted a range of materials into groups.
This term, our first theme is
‘What’s it made of?’
We will be following our own lines of enquiry in order to find out more about materials and their properties.

Year 1 enjoyed their trip to the Taliesen Theatre to see a performance of the StickMan from the book by Julia Donaldson.
