Welcome to Our Year 5 Class Page
We will be updating this page throughout the year,
so keep checking it to see all the exciting things we have been learning.
Last term we've been busy exploring The Artic.
We have been researching using our Task Wheels to find out lots of information and facts about The Artic.
We used books and computers to research how they live, work and play in The Artic.
We found out lots of answers to our questions.
We made our own igloo
in our role play area,
it is good fun inside.
We acted out artic family life using the information we had learnt about.
We have also spent alot of time on our "Artic paintings" during Art lessons.
Using our microsoft cameras, we went outside and made freeze frames of Artic people and their daily jobs.
Our Theme
The House of Rose (Tudors)
This term we will be studying the Tudors.
We will be learning in a cross curricular way and will try to cover as many curriculum areas as we can through the theme. Some areas will not fit in with the theme and will be taught discreetly.
English
The children will focus on recount, explanation and persuasive writing, which will all be linked to
The House of Rose.
Maths
The children will be focusing on;
Time and time-lines, place value, fractions and measurement.
They will be learning their 6,7 and 8 times tables.
PE
The children will focus on health, fitness and well-being. They will take part in fitness activities and explain how exercise has an effect on the body. They will also be swimming once a week.
ICT
The children will be focusing on using ICT as a tool to research and present information.
