Welcome to Our Year 3 Class Page

Each week we have being having fun in our forest. Here are some our activities we have been doing.

Children looking for jigsaw pieces.

At first we had to look for jigsaw pieces,
they could be anywhere...

A child found a jigsaw piece on the bark of a tree.

Look I found a jigsaw piece attached to a tree!

Then we had to sort the jigsaw pieces we found.

We had an exciting time around the fire circle, retelling the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

A stickman made out of branches.

We also read the story of The Stickman, and created our own Stickmen.

Children worked a team to build their car.

A lot of teamwork was needed to build our car.

We worked well together, so a well earned rest
was in order...

We enjoyed playing the alphabet memory game, it was fun.

One week we looked at patterns in nature, we found lots of patterns within our forest.

Patterns on leaves.

Patterns on logs.

Patterns on the bark of the trees.

We then made our own patterns, from tree rubbings...

This Term

The themes this term will be:

‘A picture of where we live’ and ‘Christianity and Judaism’.

Work will focus where possible around these themes and the children will play a large part in deciding what they would like to learn and how.

Geography

The children will be finding out about the local area – through discussion and exploration.
The children will look at aerial photographs.  They will learn to use co-ordinates and keys and find landmarks on simple maps.

PE
The children will begin to independently tackle challenges of a physical and problem-solving nature with partners or in small groups.
They will be developing their team building skills and their understanding of rules and strategies used in a variety of team games.

ICT
The children will be using ICT to find information about the themes they are studying.  They will analyse the information found and use databases to present their findings.

Religious Education

The children will be finding out about the faith of Christianity and Judaism.
They will explore the rituals, traditions, festivals and special days that are celebrated
by Christians and Jews around the world.
There will also be opportunities for cross-curricular links with Maths and Art, where the children will study the symmetry of religious symbols.
We are planning to visit a Synagogue in Swansea and either the Church or Chapel in Morriston.
